Proposed Benefice Reorganisation for St Peter’s Church
As many of you know, St Peter’s church has been without a dedicated Rector for over 7 years. New draft proposals would see us becoming part of a larger “joint benefice”, to include the parishes of Peter Tavy and Mary Tavy, Bere Ferrers, Brentor, Gulworthy, Tavistock and Whitchurch.
(A “Benefice” is one or more parishes served by an incumbent priest. For many years, Peter Tavy has been a”joint benefice” with Mary Tavy – and sometimes other parishes too.)
The seven parishes in the draft proposal would share a Rector, Vicar and other clergy.
The draft proposal is now available and everyone – church goer or not, resident of the parish or not – is entitled to make comments in a wide consultation about the plans.
The consultation closes at midnight on Monday 4th November 2024.
The following documents give more information about the proposed scheme, and how to comment on it. (Clicking on the titles of these below will open a PDF file of each document.)
